Concave, cottony-white shoot with carmine-coloured traces. Young leaves are yellowish, cottony, glossy and thin upon growth. The adult leaves are very large, orbicular, gloomy, thick and glossy. The petiolar sinus is a half-opened U-shape. Clusters are quite large, tapered-cylindrical, compact, winged, with a peduncle that lignifies quickly. Berries are medium sized, round, 15 mm of diameter, black in colour, with a thick and an astringent skin. Good wines from Cariñena are full-bodied, strongly coloured and a bit astringent as well.
